April 12, 201313 yr I know, I am posting this early, I have to be at the Dr. first thing Friday morning and I wanted to get this posted early. Had a MRI today on my shoulder and see the surgeon on Monday morning. Not sure, but the images I compared with mine looks like a tear for sure. So we will just have to see for sure on Monday. Till then, my son, Andrew has been doing the heavy work and I am just showing him what to do. He is doing some really good work and trying to help me not get behind on things that need to be out of the shop. Tonight he cut the dovetails for the end of the Cedar Chest I cut wrong a week ago. I showed him how to mark it and use the jig and he cut them and as you can see, the fit perfect. Yep both sides are in the right direction this time and they fit perfect. So we should get the bottom in and top ready Saturday. So we are getting close on this project to have it out of here. Also worked on the porch swing. We were a few slats short tonight or we would have got it together. We should have no problem getting it finished up Saturday morning. Then we have three more so we will be making lots of slats. So with Andrew's help I am still getting some items finished up. I am thankful that he is willing to help me out. So what are your woodworking plans this weekend? Are you starting any new projects, finishing up a project, getting ready for spring, or getting some recliner time? We here at TPW are always interested in what you are working on. We love to see pictures of in progress or finished projects. So come on and show us and tell us what you are working on this weekend. I will be checking in to see these projects, Have a good weekend and make some sawdust! John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
April 12, 201313 yr Great looking projects John.Unfortunately I have nothing as far as woodworking on my agenda this weekend, as I am attempting to get my headstock off so that I can send it in to be fixed. Problem is and I need to talk to someone about it, I dont have an allen wrench short enough to get it in the slot to take the last 2 screws off. I'll post in the old repair thread that Ron and I started.Charles NichollsSite Hostnicholls61@att.netProud supporter of The Wounded Warrior Project, Homes For Our Troops and the NRAhttp://www.etsy.com/shop/nichollswoodworks
April 12, 201313 yr Your are a lucky man, John. I wished my sons lived close enough to help in the shop. Heck, I just wish they were closer....period. Looks like Andrew has inherited his dad's loves. He takes instructions well, too. Great job on the DTs, Andrew. After the venture into the experimental absurdity of the oyster box, my boredom and frustration with the gun case is a mite relieved. After cleaning the shop, I'll dive back in and get that monstrosity finished. I'd post pictures but its, just a big tall box sitting on a squat box. Next item is the door, then the drawers. I think I'll use mortise and loose tenon joints on the door. Probably box joints on the drawers. Which reminds me, I gotta order the glides soon. Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
