My new Plumb single bevel carpenters axe.
I have been wanting to try this for awhile.
The piece was about 3" wide I need 2". Took but a few seconds to get close to the line and ready for the plane.

Hey Mark, what's wrong with a hand saw! LOL

Just kidding. Very cool, a great way indeed to trim an inch or two or split it down the middle when needed.

I have been wanting to delve into axe and froe for chair making for a long time. Where did you purchase the axe?

Got it at a flea market for 8 bucks. On thicker stock I'll be using the hand saw.

I'm definitely keeping an eye on where my left hand is.

John check out Curtis Buchanan chairmaker. He has video on his website for chairmaking that goes from buying the logs to finished. It's broken into segments so it's easy to find what you want to watch. I liked it partially to help whith building a tool list.
