April 18, 201313 yr First, we would like to thank all those who answered the call in our previous post about A Navy Man Needs a Shadow Box. Photo Below, Chief Bates and Mrs. Bates Help us give a sailor a retirement gift, from all of us! To read about Chief Bates please click on the image to the left to go to his page and read about his service. The outpouring of support has been awesome, we received not only feedback here on our forum but offsite as well through various social media outlets. We are both humbled and encouraged by the response we got to help a man who has served a great part of his life defending our country. Mr. Clint Bates (Air Traffic Control Chief Petty Officer) contacted us a few days ago, all he wanted was someone to build his shadow box at a reasonable cost. Well, for those who have been around us long enough to know, we always go the extra mile for our service members who reach out to us. So we immediately knew that Chief Bates was going to receive what he needed at no cost to him, one way or the other, if we built it, or if we raised the funds for one of his choosing. Our Patriot Woodworkers lept into action, and quickly volunteered their time and material and it looked like we had a couple guys lined up between lumber donations and craftsmanship. I want to personally thank all those who raised their hand and volunteered to make this happen. Long story short, after Chief Bates emailed us the link of exactly what he wanted, well we just decided to go to the source, Basement Woodworks belonging to owner/operator Sean Arnold. We contacted Sean and we asked him if he could get this done by Chief Bates deadline of May 22nd. Sean said heck ya! Not only that but Sean offered to build the Shadow Box at cost for us. It's an incredible discount folks and we should not have any problems raising the funds for this. The Grand Colonial in Oak retails at $415.99. A very fair price to begin with. Sean is building it for cost, which is basically 30 percent of the retail price, and we need to throw in shipping from the east coast to the west coast, and because of the size, the shipping turned out to be the bigger share of the cost. So we are going to raise around 300 dollars for this project my friends. That should leave us a little cushion for the "What If's" in life. Any funds left over will be returned. This is an incredible gesture on the part of Sean Arnold, and we are thrilled that the Chief is getting the shadow box that he and his wife fell in love with when they first saw it. So, how can you help you ask? Simply place a cash donation at our Paypal link, earmark the donation as "Chief Bates" so we know you wish the donation to go to the Shadow Box Project. Once the final bill is tallied by Sean Arnold, and we send him the money, we will disclose all the donations here in this discussion, the total we received, the names of those who gave, so there will be full disclosure and our members will know where their money is. We will not disclose how much each member donated, a 5 dollar donation is as good as a 20 dollar donation. But we will disclose the names of those who donated so all funds can be accounted for. To kick this off, The Patriot Woodworker is donating 100 dollars, so we are almost a third there already! We only need 200 more dollars to get this done Patriot Woodworker's, we can do it! Please go to Make A Donation, and place your donation on our secure Paypal server. We will keep this going until Monday, that's this coming Monday April 22nd. That should be enough time. Thank you all for your generosity in advance, and thank you all for being here. We are very proud of our Patriot Woodworker's. "ATTENTION ON DECK!!!" "DISMISSED!!!!!"
