April 20, 201313 yr  Sides are now out of the clamps, and squared awayDTs in front, rebates in back.  All mating areas have been planed to match their neighbors.  Test fit of the "Fixed" part in the backSince there will be a slight overhang on the sides.    Will have counter-bored screws to hold it in place. The lid itself needed a little work with a jack plane, to match the angle where the two "tops" meet.  Didn't take all that much.  Laid the lid on the boxOnly to find out i need to trim it's edges square.  Hate when that happens.   Still need to add a bottom to it.   I could only buy a 24"x 48" piece of 1/4" plywood at Home Despot. Looks like I will have some left over.    Would like to find out IF these desks had a divider inside.  I can cut a groove for that, BEFORE the top and bottom are installed.  I did get some small brass hinges for this.  Making a little progress??? Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...

April 20, 201313 yr Steve, I believe they did have a divider going from side to side, about 3 inches parallel from the front to keep pencils and other writing implements in their place.John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops and Wounded Warriors Project
April 20, 201313 yr Author  I think I can add something like that.  Grandson has already staked a claim on the desk, too.    Not even done yet, and he has "dibs" on it...Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
