Thank You Patriot Woodworkers, and Thank You Laguna Tools! (Chief Bates Shadow Box Update)

Featured Replies

We wanted to just say to the members who stepped up to the plate from the beginning of our fundraiser just days ago, to the closing today, THANK YOU!

For those not familiar with what happened please go to this discussion, A Navy Man Needs a Shadow Box.

After going around in circles a couple times with our volunteer builders and Sean Arnold of Basement Woodworks who makes the shadow boxes, we decided to go ahead and pick up the box Chief Bates had seen and wanted from Sean.

So we kicked off the fundraiser and here we are, after all is said and done we now have enough to send off to Sean for the shadow box!

Sean had contacted us days ago after we placed the order and he stated that he was already on it, and he's sending it out asap, and for us to get the funds to him when we get it, now that's team work folks, and trust!

So we want to give a big hearty thanks to the following members for stepping up to the plate in the very beginning of this project.

Douglas Helliesen of Key West Custom Woodwork and Sawmilling. Douglas had offered up the lumber for the project.

Blue Jacket Woodworking who also specializes in shadow boxes for offering up their labor free of charge to build the box.

Dorald Keefer for also volunteering to construct the shadow box.

Michael Malley for offering up his time and shop to build a case.

Chris Dinsmore who also offered up lumber to any of the aforementioned builders for the purpose of building the case.

The folks listed above fired us up, and got us off to a good start, and set the tone for volunteerism, camaraderie, and they exemplify what our Patriot Woodworkers stand for, team work and a willingness to give. Thank you volunteers for your efforts and your kindness. I hope you all will consider helping us  in the future for related causes here on The Patriot Woodworker, we need great folks like yourselves!

Then we'd like to thank our donors who helped us procure the case by donating funds to the shadow box fundraiser. Our goal was to raise 300 dollars for the construction and shipping of the case, we almost made it, but we have about the exact amount of the cost of the box at a wonderful rate that Sean Arnold gave us. The cost was just under 300 dollars, we were shooting for 300 just to cover any surprises, fortunately no surprises popped up! So we'd love to thank the following donors who gave of their hard earned money in the name of thanking a man who served nearly 22 years of his life in the service of our country.

Sean Arnold of Basement Woodworks who jumped at a chance to build a case for a fellow sailor. We approached Sean regarding this project, and asked him if he could get er done in time for the Chiefs retirement, he told us not only could he get it done, but he'd get it done at cost! He stated it was the least he could do for the Chief. We thank you Sean Arnold!!!!

A 100 dollar donation was made on behalf of The Patriot Woodworker and Staff and Forum Hosts to get this kicked off.

And lastly but most certainly not least, our supporter Laguna Tools brought us home with the closing donation of 107 dollars to bring us up to the needed amount to get this done! There some great things that happen here on the Patriot Woodworker but none would happen without the help of our members and sponsors.  A big Patriot shout out to all the members that supported this project and to Laguna tools for their continued support.  You folks rock!
