April 25, 201313 yr Not much for me this week. Trying to recover from a few days at the shore. Mr. David Reed Smith released a more in-depth article on creating specialized chuck jaws for a Nova/Teknatool style lathe chuck. His articles are always well written and easy to follow. This particular update shows us how to create a drilling jig for hole alignment on your chuck- which is the most difficult part of creating specialized jaws. The article can be viewed at- http://www.davidreedsmith.com/Articles/WoodPVCJaws/WoodPVCJaws.htm In addition to the jig, Mr. Smith included a wide array of jaw types for many different applications. In my opinion, this is a must read for any turner. Also, this week Craft Supplies USA posted a video on Power Sanding on the lathe. Their procedure used an air power sander but applies equally well to electric sanders. The 3 minute video can be viewed on You Tube at- Craft Supplies USA has uploaded a large number of videos and you can find them all here- http://www.youtube.com/user/CraftSuppliesUSA.
