April 26, 201313 yr Personally I haven't done any woodworking but thankfully to my youngest son, Andrew, we have gotten several things well along in the shop. It has been great getting to work with him and seeing his progress as we have worked on several things. We have porch swings in the works with one complete and three ready to start assembly, a cedar chest ready for the glue up and final trim pieces, and last night we(he) got five cutting boards cut out and in the first glue up.So I am very thankful for his help!I had my pre op yesterday and I am scheduled to have my carpel tunnel and rotator cuff surgery on my right hand and right shoulder on Tuesday morning. Then come the real work of getting back to normal. So what are you doing this weekend in your shop? Will you be working on a new project, finishing up a project that is already in the works, spring yard work, shop clean out and just plain getting some good ole R&R this weekend? We here at TPW love to see what you are working on and love for you to share your projects with us. You never know you might just motivate someone else to give it a try.So come on share those pictures and projects with us, I will be watching to see what you are working on.Also check out the "The Patriot Woodworker "Best Worked In" Workshops. We want to see what a real woodworking shop looks like, not one setup for a photo shoot. Come on over and post your shops pictures. We might just choose the best worked in workshop.John Moody Site Administrator John Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
April 26, 201313 yr John,I wish you the very best everyday, but especially on Tuesday! Now that my diversionary excursion in to the absurd, with the oyster box, has ended, my shop will be engaged with door making this weekend. Simple rails and stiles for Lexan panels. My doors are usually cope and stick. This time they'll be M&T. Got a new M&T jig from Jessem to try out.Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
April 26, 201313 yr This Sunday my wife and I celebrate our 29th anniversary so we will be getting away for the weekend down to San Diego for some R&R time together. While you are having your surgery on Tuesday I will be meeting with my orthopedic surgeon to go over the results of the MRI that I had done earlier this week to determine if he will be able to make the repairs to my torn torn rotator cuff or not. Hopefully the results will show that the repair is possible and the I will have a 2nd shoulder surgery.Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.net'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk' J. April 27, 201313 yr John I think we need another forum topic for all the surgeries our friends on here are having! My woodworking weekend is full as we are doing to shows. Both of wich probably will not be worth the time invested except that they will allow us to meet with friends. Round Barn WoodCrafts, Plymouth WIroundbarnwoodcrafts@hotmail.com
April 27, 201313 yr I have been warned!    The other half has been looking through a "Country Sampler" book/catalog.    And, she has found a few items that I could make.......Going to have to hide them kind of books better in the future....Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
April 28, 201313 yr I mentioned that I would keep y'all apprised of this weekend's show. Â Temp dropped about 10 degrees during the show and had rain showers most of the day. Â Only sold 2 items. Â The promoters said that the good news for tomorrow is that it might be a little warmer - but - more rain coming. Â Can't seem to catch a break this season.Fredaka Pop's Shopwww.pops-shop.com'Soooooo many patterns - sooooo little time'Scroll Saw Forum Host
April 28, 201313 yr A "look" at one of the things she foundEven HAD to go down to Lowes and price the wood for this "hutch".    A 1x12x12' should be just enough lumber to build it.   I'll build it, but the painting is something for others to do.  Maybe a weekend to build... April 28, 201313 yr Get well, JohnI finally got to get to my shop this week-end and did some more work on the entertainment center. First time got to do any woodworking for past 3 or 4 weeks.  Tomorrow I'll finish sanding the top and start making the 4 corbels for the entertainment center. Way too many things working against me right now to get much done. Wayne EWayne E
April 28, 201313 yr Steve - good lookin hutch. Â Glad you found the right wood at Lowes. Â I'm really glad i have a great supplier of wood - don't have to rely on Lowes or Home Depot stuff. The other news of the weekend - the promoter of the outdoor show this weekend called it off about noon because there are storms coming our way. Â Total sales for the weekend - $55 - can't make expenses that way. Â Pictures and video will be uploaded on a new thread tomorrow.See ya later folksFredaka Pop's Shopwww.pops-shop.com'Soooooo many patterns - sooooo little time'Scroll Saw Forum Host
April 28, 201313 yr Sounds like my weekend also Fred. I'm doing a little better but not enough to get bills paid. It appears that some networking connections will be coming from the shows but it remains to be seen. I had a couple of customers say they will meet me at a show this fall to buy Christmas gifts. I sure hope they do! Another came through today and told me about her husbands cabinet shop and that they are is looking for a home for his cull stock. Most of this I should be able to use in my products.Round Barn WoodCrafts, Plymouth WIroundbarnwoodcrafts@hotmail.com
April 28, 201313 yr Steve, Looks like a nice piece for the wife. Sorry 'bout all the bad weather Fred. John H, Free wood is great! Hope all your connections come through. I took this Sunday off. Got the shop all cleaned and organized (HA!) Can't bear to start stacking new saw dust right away. Monday, I'll put this little gem to work on some rails and stiles. I tried it out on some scrap. Pretty slick little gadget. Jessem Mortise Mill Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton
