May 3, 201313 yr  Ok, the Other Half found an item she wanted, so, now I have to build thisBlack painted "Hutch" for the kitchen.    She even copied down the measurements to it.    Was out on a Rust Hunt today, and decided to price match a board at Menards.   Lowes wanted $26 for a 1x12x12'  Pine board.   Menards?   $9.22 + tax.    Hmmm, SOLD!    Now, Menards is about 40+ miles from the house, and all I had to transport this plank wasThis Jalopy.    Some twine from Menards, and a single bungy cord was all I had to tie it down with.    Going towards home, into a fairly stiff breeze, all I could see of the board was about 12" of flapping Pine.   As you can see, we did get it home ( at 40mph)  Took the board around back, and set up a saw bench, of sorts..Not quite a Workmate, but it does work.   First a little layout of toolsFirst cut is 36" long, more or less.  This is just to get things down to a size I can work with.  Framer square and a Brand New 14" Crosscut saw.  Couple of minutes laterand the first of two 36" long panels is cut off.   Repeat for the second one.    Next cut was 25" long, and will be the top of the Hutch.   Which left.......47-1/2"  to cut into two shelves.  Measure in from each end 24", then split the differenceand cut the lines. As each piece was cut off, I just stacked them out of the way.Been a long, old day.   So, all the tools and panels were taken to the Dungeon Shop.    After a good night's snooze, I might get this almost done tomorrow.    I happen to have tonight and tomorrow night off from work.    I'll build it, but someone else will have to paint it.   Stay tuned... Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
