May 19, 201313 yr For the past 10 years or so a local Doctor, and personal friend, has honored Veterans from all branches of the service with a free Spaghetti Dinner. The Doc foots the bill for everything and we always have a great turn out. Mimi, I and others "volunteer" to help cook, serve, decorate and cleanup for the event. The local Girl Scouts help with serving and cleanup, too. This year we prepared and served a little over 400 dinners for the three hour event. We had a special treat this year. Colonel Glenn D. Frazier was at Letterkenny Army Depot for an event and honored us with a visit. I was not familiar with the Colonel's story until a recent article in our local paper. Colonel Frazier fought in the Pacific Theater during WWII and is a survivor of the Bataan Death March. I had the opportunity to speak with him briefly as he signed a copy of his book "hockey sticks's Guest". (Not me in the pix). If anyone is interested in his story, you can read more at http://colonelfrazier.com/ . As a side note, during the conversation I learned that Ken Burns, the gentleman who produces so many great PBS documentaries, is working on a series about Vietnam. I was told the release is a couple of years away, however.  Lew Kauffman- Wood Turners Forum Host Time traveler. Purveyor of the world's finest custom rolling pins!
