May 22, 201313 yr Author Thanks for the info John, I was not sure you if you were running a solar kiln or not, I know you have fresh cut trees sawed, but I was not sure how you dried them. One of my dreams is to have a sawmill and a solar kiln, I have some land up in the mountains perfect for this operation. Just day dreaming my friend!John MorrisThe Patriot WoodworkerProud Supporter of Homes For Our Troops and Wounded Warriors Project
May 22, 201313 yr A good friend and I were looking at a place on his property that we could put a solar kiln. When I get my arm back I think we are going to do our own. I've had some cut and dried for less than .50/bd ft so that makes it pretty cheap. A guy fairly close with a solar kiln has dried some oak foe me at .20/bd ft. Let me know which way you go.John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
