May 23, 201313 yr  Seems that when the mail shows up, it gets dumped onto the dining room table.   Needed SOMETHING as a mail catch-all tray.   Had some scraps left from the Hutch build, soTook a cambered Jack plane to the "sides" to get down to that there pencil line.  The Corsair C-5 with the Schwarz-style 8" camber made short work of this.  Then a trim to match the two sidesThen other parts saw my Wards #78like the bottom of the tray.   The back piece had rebates on both endsas for the other end, it had to match a curved side. so block planes to cut the curveTook awhile, and the piece was longer than I needed, enough that I could get a second piece, IF the first one went "bad" ( Not that I make mistakes, of course)  Trim to fit, some nail and glue ( after getting the old dried out plug out of the bottle's nozzle) andTodays mail box, or is it a "Letterbox"?Just nailed and glued up.  Nothing "Fancy".   Still debating about this end, round over, or leave as is??? Cost?   ZERO    Fun?   Loads.  Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...

May 29, 201313 yr I had a Co-worker once that used to tell he placed all the bills in a hat as they came in. He would sit down and start pulling them from the hat and writing checks to pay them till the funds were depleted. Those unpaid stayed in the hat. When the collectors called he told them, "I gave you the same chance as everyone else. Your name was in the hat and didn't get drawn. If you fuss too much next month I won't put you in the hat!" Not sure how he came outJohn MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com
