Three day Rust Hunt..

Featured Replies

 Did not go too well.

Did pass through the day before the Village wide yard sales, at one town.    Fellow had a box of five handplanes!    Rusty, no-name ones....     Said he wanted $12 a piece... ( good luck on that one..)

Next day, got up early and hit the roads around my little town.

Place had a couple gas-powered mowers.   Still being fixed up.    Price/  "Oh, $50-60 a piece"    Hmmm, don't think so...

Found a rusty handsaw to refurb for a $1.      Found a sander to replace the one I blew up, for $3.    Found an old 24" long wood bodied level, $.75. ning-sdc15309-12404-70.jpg?width=750and a small "screwdriver" for $.75ning-sdc15308-12404-68.jpg?width=750Hey, it will drive screws!    This is to keep the wife from using MY drill all the time, to hang her stuff on the walls...

Two plane set i was bidding on for a Father's day gift to me......Snipered, again!

Went right back on ebay and bought a "Buy it NOW"  #4.     Needs a lever cap, and a good refurbbing, I think I might be able to do that..

Wife found a few things she liked as well ( Yep, HAD to take her along)  She was happy, so I guess I am happy.    Got the saw cleaned up, and shiny.    need to get a few saw files for sharpening it up.   Got a BLUE plane all ready to go.   It will do end grain, now.

Might take the planes to that wood level, just to true up the edges.     Not sure about that paint scheme on it, though....
