Is there a tool that you want to have reviewed? Here is your chance!

Featured Replies

Is there a tool that you would like to get reviewed or more information on? We all see the new and cool tools in the latest woodworking magazine or online, but you don't have a store near by that you could go to  so you can "touch and feel" it and ask questions about its use. Well.....here is your chance!

The AWFS (Association of Woodworking & Furnishing Suppliers) Fair will be happening in Las Vegas July 24-27 and they will have all (or most) of those cool tools that you have been looking at and drooling over. This is the largest woodworking and furniture manufacturing industry show in the country and happens every odd year in Las Vegas and every even year in Atlanta GA called the IWF (International Woodworking Fair). These trade shows carry everything from woodworking tools to knobs & hinges & drawer slides, paint and finishes to huge industrial manufacturing and CNC machines.

My wife and I attended the 2011 Las Vegas show and had a blast and we will be attending the 2013 show for 2 full days looking at all the stuff. So if there is some tool or product (there will be all kinds of hardware and finishing suppliers there as well) that you have been wanting to know more about now is the time to speak up and be counted! I will do my best to get information, photos and maybe video (if the vendors will let me) of any item(s) you are interested in and then post it back here on TPW.

So here's how to do it:

Check out the "List of Vendors" and the "Floor Plan Layout" for the AWFS Fair and look for the vendor/manufacturer that you are interested in. Note that these lists are not all inclusive as they are not up to date. So if you don't see the specific company/manufacturer listed they may still be at the show. For instance Delta, Porter Cable, Bosch and Dewalt are not listed, but they should have their displays there. The only major brand that is questionable is Grizzly as they had a very few machines at the 2011 show

So if there is some tool or product you are interested in and want more information about it, just post what it is and any specific questions that you have about it and I will do my best to get it from the show.

Be our roving reporter while your their. Maybe John will cover your expenses.

Will have to check it out, Allen.  Virtually of course.  Let us know if you find anything super intresting.

Hey Fred, I was considering a visit to Atlanta to next year's event.  You wanna go?

Heck yeh - when time gets closer, let's make it happen.

Done deal.  Party time in Hotlanta with Fred.

Wait a minute, I want to go too! Don't leave me out.

Well, my wife and I made it to Las Vegas today and we will be here through Friday. My wife got a great deal on "Groupon" for our hotel for 2 of the 3 nights we will be here. It is at the "Palms Place" and we got a studio suite with a kitchen and great view of the "Strip" from our 52nd floor room. Cost for this room is typically $150-$200 per night, but the deal was $50 per night, so we are happy campers. It is off the "Strip" on the opposite side of the Interstate 15, but as you can see from the photo below, we got a great view of the "Strip" from here. Tomorrow and Thursday we will be hitting up the AWFS Fair and will be walking around and checking out all the vendors and fingerprinting the latest woodworking tools and machines and taking some photos. So if there is some tool or some vendor that you want more information on just post it and I will do my best to do a review on it.
