July 5, 201312 yr hi all i have just started work on an old wadkin 24" jointer thicknesser it is in fair condition and i will only be doing the minimum strip down and clean up ( checking bearings etc) to get the old girl running again.be looking for a 300mm wide jointer for a while and this monster came up for $1000 australian .$ 500 to move and i am hoping $ 500 at most for parts and disposables .i am looking for any information on this model especial modern bearing codes .cheers scott

July 9, 201312 yr Author thanks john lewis and larry yes she will be a great machine , so east to take apart ( nice cut threads into cast ) no threaded or stripped heads. just bloody heavy .. removed the cutter head and will need to replace the bearings one has collapsed so very pleased i decided to give the old girl an look over . trying to source bearings at the moment i worked on a machine like this during my apprenticeship in England in the late eighties it will be noisy but will eat wood even aussie hardwood ( and man some of that is hard as nails ) also need to replace the bed roller bearings and housings . as they have damage . might try and mill the housings in aluminium on the small cnc i have been trying to master . cheers scott cheers scottÂ

July 10, 201312 yr Author i also have recently restored ( well brought back to good working condition ) an old bandsaw its an american pice of kit and very nice too . on its way to the scrap yard . guess's on the maker and year ??
