July 25, 201312 yr  Got the first one in the mail today, since the thursday morning rust hunt was a dead end.   STRANGE LITTLE CRITTER!  SO UGLY THAT.......it is almost cute..  not much to it, eitherthat is all there is.  Seven parts.   Alomost like a block plane with handles.   It is about the same size (almost) as a #3 sized planeMillers Falls #8 sitting behind it.  Currently in Re-Hab..  Still two to go? One might be here tomorrow in the mail.  Unlike W.C. Fields, it is trying to get out of Philly...   Number three? Find out in a few hours IF I have to drive to Lima, OH to pick it up. 30 miles, one way. Or, $17.00 in shipping & handling..... Pictures after while of the rehabbed critter... Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
July 25, 201312 yr Author This is one STRANGE planeSharpened it up, installed the iron bevel down.....didn't work rightInstalled it bevel up, like a block plane..... still not right.   lever cap won't lock the iron in place, and KEEP it there.   Went and got an iron and capiron from a Stanley #110 (it does fit, too) and adjusted the known sharp iron to make a decent shaving, and it worked.   looks really strange...  cap iron's rear end is straight up in the air!                          hmmm. back to the drawing board on this one....stay tuned...Planer? July 25, 201312 yr Author Lima plane was a victum of a sniper, not a big deal though, just a Handyman #4..A very nice Dunlap is coming in the mail, maybe tomorrow? As for that "Critter" plane, might "francken-plane time" film at 11:00....Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
July 25, 201312 yr Author Well, it IS 11:00 somewhere, right?   Francken planesA #110 parts ona critter plane, plus, critter parts on the 110!    Strange, RARE , Vintage (about like something in an old oak barrel?) A handled block plane is "born".. a look at the back ends? But wait, there is more!  SIDE VIEWS even!Don't look like this family tree "forked" at all?  But, they do have sole.... Just a $3 plane, might as well have a wee bit of fun with it... Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
July 26, 201312 yr Author Well, plane #2 is stuck up in Cleveland today, I think. Plane #3 will not be happening from ebay,However, rust hunt has found a Stanley #31, block plane parts (needs an iron. $3 at Home Depot) and a saw set.  $19.50 for the haul..  budget was about $20, so that's blown.    They also had a Stanley #29 Jack plane with a Liberty Bell cap iron.  About four egg-beater drills, saws that were just short of butter knife in sharpness, with a miter box.  A few power tools, in sets, and four horse collars. Will be get a few photos later, after a clean up...Planer?
