August 4, 201312 yr  Bought this "thing" at a yard sale for $15Front corner had issues, maybe from rot. Tote had a broken horn. Iron was ground funky(found out why later) and the mout looked a little off( yep, it was out of square) Had a spare tote, and sanded it to match the old tote. had a spare knob to act as a replacement, until the front one was fixed up. Iron works need derusting, and new black paint. Brass wheel was shined up.   Screws and bolts cleaned up.  Next, that iron.   Flattened the back, squared the edge, and shapened down to 2k grit and the strop. Installed the iron in the plane.....it was digging in on one side?  Got to checking things out, not the irons total faultThat sharpie line is square to the sides.  Needed to cut it back to that line, and recheck for squareGetting there, while I was at it, worked on getting the sole flat and square across the width and length, seems it was worn on the right side quite a bit, too. Clamped the body upright in the vise and reshaped the bed for the ironPretty looking, ain't it?   Once the bed was done, install everything and make another test driveHey, it is a jointer plane, right.  That knob is a replacement, while I worked over the original oneNot sure which I like. The BLO turned the old lnob almost black. Added the BLO to the rest of the planeBlack front corner was from some sort of rot/water damage?  Otherwise, not too bad a looking 120 year old plane?  Stanley #31, about 1892 or so... i Planer?
