August 15, 201312 yr Well, my part, of the scheduled computer upgrades, is finished and the pre-school meetings are done; so it looks like I can get back to some wood working. Good thing, too, because the jobs have been piling up! For those of you who have been holding your breath awaiting the completion of the segmented mortar- exhale... and take another deep breath. I know you have planned your vacations and social life around the completion, but, another project must be completed first. Our neighbor has decided to home school her oldest daughter. She needs some furniture modifications and chairs built for the child to have a study/work area. The furniture mod is simply making new, longer legs for a coffee table. The chairs are another story. Everything is turned except for the seat and the top rail. I have never built a chair but I have a small version of what she wants- just need to up-scale it to the correct dimensions. The new project does use the lathe so I'll be posting some pictures, in these discussions, as I get the turnings done. As for the turning portion of today's post, Â I was surfing through You Tube and realized there are a tremendous number of wood working suppliers who have posted videos demonstrating wood turning techniques and wood turning equipment. These videos are well done, usually fairly short, and to the point. Our sponsor, Woodcraft, has an excellent "channel" which included a bunch of wood turning information. You can get all their videos at-http://www.youtube.com/channel/UCtMbRG_VdfpwloGvY2OjXaQ Another You Tube nicety is their "Feather" option. It provides faster video loading and less clutter. You can try it from here-Â http://www.youtube.com/feather_beta. Safe Turning Lew Kauffman-Wood Turners Forum HostTime Traveler and Purveyor of the Universe's Finest Custom Rolling Pins!
