August 26, 201312 yr Saturday, Beth, Andrew and I went to check out several flea markets on the way to the big one in Nashville. We stopped at one we have never been to and it was pretty cool. Found plenty of stuff and I believe everyone around has a Bit and Brace. I bet I saw thirty of them Saturday. A lot of the planes are way over prices like they have a real collector. This was a Wards Master and they wanted 29.00 for it. Plenty of items around by nothing in a price I wanted to pay and a lot of them needed repairs. But you spend a while just looking through things. But I did find a few items to bring home between all of them. I was in one place and picked up the Stanley Defiance and the guy spoke up and said, "You can have that plane, it has been sitting there for years and you are the first person to pick it up so you can have it." Well it is missing the blade and lever cap, but for free I will either use it for parts or find a part here or there and put it back together. So this is what I came home with after a day of looking around. The defiance, Bailey No.5 smooth bottom '10, Stanley No.78 pat. '10, a wooden pulley, Shelton No.14. Keen Kutter piece, silver spreading knifes, six chisels, millwauke tools sign and some deer antlers. Two of them at Craftsman, two are Stanley and the two wooden I haven't found a name on yet. Stanley No.5, Pat. '10 Stanley No.78 pat in '10 Cast Iron Keen Kutter piece. Anyone got any idea what it was used for? A guy threw in the Shelton if I bought the No78 cause it got wet the night before and rusted. Antique Silver spreading knives I put with my Cheese boards to add value to them. An old wooden pulley just cause it was cool and cheap. The antlers are to be used on some pen and pencil sets I need to make. So that was our picking then we were off to the Antique Archeology (American Pickers) store in Nashville. In the Marathon Automobile Building just off I-65, There were many items in the store that I watched them pick on TV and they really are asking those large prices for them. I hated to take too many pictures and look all touristy so that is all I took in the store. So I did get the T-Shirt And believe it or not, it comes in a paper bag! I guess I better save the paper bag, it may be something that will be picked in a few years. Then we got stuck in traffic for over an hour in Titan vs Falcon's football game in Nashville. We were stuck on the bridge and not moving. We could easily see the jumbo tron at LP Field. It was 10:30 when we got home last night but it was a awesome day. We had so much fun dealing with people. So my new motto may be "In Rust We Trust!" John MoodySite AdministratorJohn Moody Woodworkshttp://www.johnmoodywoodworks.com

August 26, 201312 yr Author It was a very fun day John. The Flea Market in Nashville is so huge. And there is everything from old to new there. The neat thing is the people are usually willing to negotiate on items. i did try to buy one thing I am trying to find at two different vendors and couldn't get either one of them to come off a dollar. They were wanting 250.00 for the item, I tried to start them at 150.00 and couldn't get them to move one dollar. If I had been there on Sunday afternoon I think I would have gotten it. They know they have one more day on Saturday and they were all selling stuff. I had one guy that had a Stanley No.5 and a No.80 scrapper. I stopped and ask him what he was asking. Thirty dollars on the No.5 and 20.00 on the No.80. He told me on the Bailey No.5 if you found it with Stanley and Bailey on it, they were worth 60.00. The handle was broken so I put it down and walked off. I knew he was way out of range on it. The one I got was 8.00. So you just have to look around. I bet I saw fifteen Stanley No.5's in all kind of conditions. I did see one with the plastic blade adjustment knob which is the first one of those I had seen, but he was wanting 80.00.John Morris said: Awesome John!!!! Love it!!!!! What a cool day trip.
