What wonderous things occurred this weekend 8/26

Just wondering what exciting things you got done this past weekend?????  New projects started?  New projects completed?  Old projects completed?  Projects you wish you hadn't started?????

As for Judy and I, we "attended" a craft show as vendors this past weekend.  I say "attended" because we just barely made expenses - in fact, we didn't sell one bloody thing on Sunday ! ! ! ! !  Wasn't a completely wasted trip because we got to meet up with old friends, made some new ones, and visited with our granddaughter for a few hours.

That's me, how 'bout y'all ? ? ?

Quiet weekend for us. We spent the day together on Saturday doing some errands and then went and saw the movie "The Butler" which was a good movie. A lot of liberty taken from the book, but good none the less. Sunday after church we had lunch and then did some grocery shopping. The physical therapy for my shoulder has been brutal as I am now working on strengthening. After the exercises I get to be tortured by the therapist as he works on loosening up my neck and upper back muscles by digging his thumbs into my muscles and laughing maniacally. At least that is what my mind is telling me as my eyes water and tendons clunk and pop. We have got some hot and very humid weather so the garage is not a comfortable place to be in the afternoon so I have not been able to do much other than organize some things.

Remember when I wrote I built the compound angle drilling jig because the neighbor "might" want another little chair.

Yup, you guessed it.

Would you believe lots of work and nothing to show for it? Basically got the contract for several pieces for a neighborhood bar and restaurant, and worked on drawings and some wood.

God bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.

Shopsmith assembled and situated for work. Pulled some Maple for chests/boxes.

Mostly, watched the GLORIOUS thunder and lightning storms and reveled in the following rain. ...Well, I did come in out of the rain... and watched it from the covered deck.

Corresponded with the fella that recon'ed the Shopsmith and it seems he has a like new Shopsmith accessory 6X48 belt sander that he'll let me have for $150. Not a bad deal seeing as how a new one is $460. Shopsmith is sure proud of their stuff. But it is all made in the USA and built to survive a nuclear blast.

AND, Found a good craigslist buy on an air compressor for my son in Tucson. A 2 year old  Matco 60 gal, 5 hp, that produces 16 CFM @ 90 psi. We bought him the Campbell Hausefield  for his 16th BDay. Two years later, he joined the AF.  I inherited it, so I owed him another one.

Well, I put part of what I did on the weekend in my reply about the Electrolysis and you can scroll down and read it here.

The other part of the weekend was in the Thread "In Rust We Trust"

And then here are some updated pictures of the plane in the Electrolysis. After taking it out the first time and wiping it down good, I put it back in for a few more hours and let it get good and clean.

ning-img-0754-9867-51.jpgThe above pictures was right after I took it out of the solution the second time. Then I dried it off and this is what it looks like.

ning-img-0757-9867-20.jpgning-img-0759-9867-10.jpgAll the rust is gone and all of what was left of the japanning is now gone. I'll get it ready for painting and start that tonight.

I also finished the sanding of the cedar chest and got the top finished. I will put the hinges on tonight and then remove them and setup to start spraying the finish on this coming weekend.

ning-img-0762-9867-32.jpgning-img-0763-9867-58.jpgIt has been slow, but the shoulder is now doing really good and I feel like I am getting some things done again.

That was my weekend and Monday night. Covered a lot of ground and got a good bit accomplished.
