Friday, August 30th, What's on Your Woodworking Agenda this weekend?

Featured Replies

Well last week I was wondering where the dog days of August were. This week I know, it has been almost 100 here today and in the mid 70's at night. This is what we usually expect in August, but it just hasn't been here till this week. Now it really hurts. I had the air on in the shop today and it was still 80 degrees in there.

So I have been going full bore now that the shoulder is better, but still taking care not to do anything I am not suppose to. I have First Friday next week so having a long weekend will give me a little bit of time to do get some things done.

Today I got enough stock cut and glued to make up 10 bread dipping trays.

ning-img-0785-9722-67.jpgI got the top off the cedar chest and starting working on repairing the one I damaged.

ning-img-0786-9722-5.jpgI have started on re-furbishing another Stanley No. 5 I picked up last weekend.

ning-img-0787-9722-73.jpgAnd cleaning and buffing the sides on the Stanley No. 5 that I ran through the Electrolysis to clean the rust off. It has not been repainted with Ford Motor Semi-Gloss Engine Black paint. The sides are getting cleaned and the bottom will be next. Then it will all get reassembled.

ning-img-0788-9722-91.jpgning-img-0789-9722-3.jpgAnd while all of that was going on I got enough stock cut for five cutting boards.

ning-img-0784-9722-98.jpgI would have gotten further on the cutting boards, but in the middle of cutting it all out, I got a phone call from my son, Andrew and someone had rear ended him just a little ways from our house.

ning-img-0773-9722-33.jpgOf course their car took it worse than his truck, but the truck had to be towed to the body shop. He was hit in the back and knocked him into a truck in front of him so it also got the front of his truck.

Thankfully no one was seriously injured mostly shook up.

ning-img-0781-9722-71.jpg It was an older gentleman driving this older car and he said his foot slipped off the brake as it didn't have a rubber pad on it. Now that makes for a bad Friday.

So that is what I have going on in my shop and life. What is on your woodworking agenda this weekend. You know we here at TPW love to see all of the projects you are working on and even as they are in progress. We just love to see wood getting worked. So come on and share your long weekend projects with us. It is labor day weekend, so I think you are suppose to labor on this weekend.

Both sons, SOs and grankids here for the holiday.

One son wants me to make him a plywood box to go through a wall between the studs. To hide a TV bracket and VCR.

Shouldn't take but half a day.

Other than that, no shop time.

Maybe get back to the mortar I'd started but got interrupted by the chair project. I'm considering making a ball sander to finish off the inside.

I'm starting the stock prep for the RP doors that go on the bottom portion of these bookcases.

God bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.

Have to finish a sigh for a local bar, pics to follow. Should be done and delivered by tomorrow. Have to start drawing up a plaque for a customer. Her nephew played soccer and was a big hit and noted in as being great. Other then that, 3 John 3:16 plaques and one Crown of thorns portrait. Guess I am glad this is a long week end and they are calling for rain.

Nice bookcases Rich, I was wondering what you were up to now that the snow had melted. Good to hear from you.

Very nice. Doors will really set it off.

Where's it going?
