September 3, 201312 yr How many here have already place their order for a handful of these things?http://www.leevalley.com/US/wood/page.aspx?cat=1,41637&p=70930Oh yes they are the finest on the planet. With ribbed shafts to resist pull (and will prolly chew your dog holes to pieces) and a lovely cam action head to compress your stuff to your bench weighing in at almost $80.00 each, I can't Imagine how anyone could possibly live without at least twelve.I like LV really I do, but that's just plain silly.

September 4, 201312 yr You know, I see what you are saying Cliff. But if I really look at the bench dogs, and figure how many I would actually use, perhaps two or three at the most, and I could almost see them working out fine. I am more of a traditionalist when it comes to tools, but to me it appears you may not even have to whack em with a hammer, squeeze up on the levers and set in place, and the expanding levers do the rest. I don't know what is worse as far as using up the dog holes on a bench, slamming regular dogs in with a mallet, or inserting these by hand only. With the traditional dogs you need to whack em again to get em out, banging the shafts against the dog holes. With these you simply release lever and pull them out by hand. Hmmmm, upon closer observation, they aint all that bad. John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker
