September 6, 201312 yr Another weekend is here - darn, the weeks just keep flying by - for some of us, every day is a weekend  I just KNOW that y'all have great  plans for the weekend.  Please share them with us. As for me, hopefully I get the Nativity set completed.  I have all the figures cut out (from 3/4" Red Oak) and now I just have to get all the trim pieces cut (from various 1/4" species), get it all glued up with the proper pieces on the right figures, cut and finish the bases, finally get finish on all figures. Above is a picture of one I made a few years ago.  The trim pieces are more colorful now. Fredaka Pop's Shopwww.pops-shop.com'Soooooo many patterns - sooooo little time'Scroll Saw Forum Host
September 6, 201312 yr I am not sure what the weekend holds for me yet. This past week has been too hot and humid to work in the shop as it has been over 100 degrees in the shop with high humidity which cause me breathing problems being an asthmatic. Also I am very sore from the physical therapy on my shoulder. I am now in the strengthening phase which is great and I am seeing great progress, but when I get done I go home and take some meds and have to crash. My wife and I will be heading out to an Angels baseball game tonight which we are very much looking forward to. I hope to get some things done in the shop over the weekend but I also have to do a bit of work on my Ford F-150 pick up as I have to replace one of my automatic door lock actuators as it only locks/unlocks the one door only about 1/4 of the time. I had to replace one this past year as well, so at least I know how to do it so it won't take me too long to get done.Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.net'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk.' September 6, 201312 yr Fred, For some of us everyday is a Monday Wake up call 2:00 AM, well pump running without anything turned on. Hmmmm. Go down in basement to check, and the pump has blown a seal it's spraying water all over the floor above. Nice (Not) Nobody (Menards, Lowes, Home Depot, etc.) carries parts in stock. 6-11 days if ordered. New pump $250.00-300.00. ( Yeah Right, Not Happenning ) Called Flotec and talked to Customer Service, Customer Service transfers me to parts. ( Nobody Answers ) Called Flotec again, parts tries telling me I can't do a Customer Pick-Up, the parts have to be shipped. Parts transferred me back to Customer Service. Jose in Customer Service says some peoples kids, and gets the order put through. Flotec is roughly 35 miles west of me, in Delavan Wisconsin . I'll be leaving shortly to pick up my $5.54 (including tax) part.  So that's my today. Larry Old Woodworking Machinery Forum Host
September 6, 201312 yr Start working on a lathe duplicator. Also, need a new light fixture over the workbench. Lew Kauffman-Wood Turners Forum HostTime Traveler and Purveyor of the Universe's Finest Custom Rolling Pins!
September 6, 201312 yr Fred, That's one fine looking Nativity. Allen, Didn't the nose job help? Too bad that the humidity makes your asthma worse. I'd say move to the desert, but the dust might be worse than the humidity. It's DRY here but, when the wind blows, it's really dusty.Oh Larry. Not a fun time, I'm sure. Ya gotta go shake Jose's hand when you get there. He knows what customer SERVICE is all about. Lew, Not being a turner I gotta ask. What is a lathe duplicator? As for me, the major pieces are all cut and sized for the 4 maple jewelry chests. The next logical job is drilling holes for brass rods that hold the arms for the pin fabric. But, before that, I need to build a Shopsmith specific drill press table. Yeah, I know. Just use the Shopsmith table. But I want a little more functionality and some protection for that new table. The old Shopsmith table has a few holes where I mis-judged. Besides, building jigs is fun.Gene'The true soldier fights not because he hates what is in front of him, but because he loves what is behind him.' G. K. Chesterton

September 7, 201312 yr Well the seal wasn't the cure for the well pump. The rear pump housing cracked, cost to repair existing pump close to replacement cost. Worked until 10:00 PM installing new pump. Going to be a long month. Paydays only 3 weeks away. Â Larry Old Woodworking Machinery Forum Host
