Friday, September 6th, What's on Your Patriot Woodworker Agenda this weekend?

Featured Replies

Interested to here what all you here at The Patriot Woodworker will do working on this weekend.

Tonight is First Friday in downtown Historic Florence and I will be setting up a booth with my cutting boards and other woodworks.

Finished up nine cutting boards last night with the help of my wife. She did some sanding and putting the finish on them.

ning-img-0844-9448-17.jpgning-img-0845-9448-70.jpgAnd we also got ten bread dipping boards finished for tonight.

ning-img-0846-9448-91.jpgSince I got pushed into finishing all of these for today, I didn't get the top repaired for the cedar chest so I am hoping to spend Saturday working on that.

I also have a couple of shadow boxes and a small piece of Thomas the Train track to do this weekend.

So what the rest of you Patriot Woodworkers, what is on your woodworking agenda this weekend? You know we here at The Patriot Woodworker love to see your projects and the progress and when finished, so please share your project with the rest of us here in the forums. Give is a chance to brag on your wonderful projects and who knows, you might inspire someone else to give it a try also.

I am not sure what the weekend holds for me yet. This past week has been too hot and humid to work in the shop as it has been over 100 degrees in the shop with high humidity which cause me breathing problems being an asthmatic. Also I am very sore from the physical therapy on my shoulder. I am now in the strengthening phase which is great and I am seeing great progress, but when I get done I go home and take some meds and have to crash. My wife and I will be heading out to an Angels baseball game tonight which we are very much looking forward to. I hope to get some things done in the shop over the weekend but I also have to do a bit of work on my Ford F-150 pick up as I have to replace one of my automatic door lock actuators as it only locks/unlocks the one door only about 1/4 of the time. I had to replace one this past year as well, so at least I know how to do it so it won't take me too long to get done.

I'm trying to get some extra stock made up for our "Farmers Market" this coming Wednesday.

While I was down in So. Calif. my wife had a couple of calls and orders for a few things, so I need to finish them up.

Interesting work. Doing puzzles for the kiddies is it worth it? Something I have been thinking about.

The boats are made from a 2x4, so cost is next to nothing, and if I keep busy with them, it doesn't take too much time using a band saw. This year I am getting $10 for them but have been told by customers that they would have paid more. The reward comes from watching the kids play with them!

Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...

i hadn't heard of bread dipping boards before so those were a nice treat to see.

I'm trying to figure out the best way of making a turned coffee scoop. i started to make it in 2 pieces but they aren't matching up right, so i am considering making them out of 1 piece or not at all. i will also be turning out some round cheese boards and see if I can get a few at least to sell. i may actually dump the scoop idea for the cheese boards :). Pics as I get them :)

There has to be something out there that sells rather well that we turners can make. I just haven't found it yet.

Charles,

Here's a PDF file of making a coffee scoop. Ms. Niles live only a few miles from me. She also has her own line of bottle stoppers.

Redoing a top for the Cedar Chest I was making. I dropped the other top and busted the corner. So this morning it is time to glue up another one and I will cut the broken one down and use it on a smaller chest.

I love these Bessey Clamps!

There was a great crowd out Friday Night for First Friday. I had a good night, not the best, but I did have some buyers. Lot's of people looking and making list for Christmas.

Here was our display this month. ning-img-0854-9450-62.jpgThis picture also show the bowls on the Bread Dipping Boards.

Also had a few of my hand planes there. The guys like to stop and look at them, the women then look at the cutting boards.

Love the Bessey clamps too. I have 2 12in. clamps and wish I had 2 more LOL. They are great for holding anything I need. Maybe I'll manage to get 2 more for Christmas this year :)

Sorry to hear about the top busting John but it looks like you have the replacement well underway.
