Complain about shipping costs where appropriate.

Complain about shipping costs where appropriate.

While ordering something  very small and light I had an issue with the $10.98 shipping charge that MSC industrial  supply charges.

They don’t offer a cheaper alternative.  They talk about this like it is just peachy because you can ship up to 15 pounds for that price.   At 15# that may be a great price but for a very small thing that might ship in an envelope for less than a dollar it’s a really crappy price.

So I called them and told the girl who answered that  I needed a better alternative to the eleven dollar fee.  She very sweetly tried to explain how the $10.98 was so wonderful  pouring a ton of verbiage into it, but I stood my ground telling the lovely girl on the phone that they could not have me as a customer if they wanted to charge me elev3en dollars to ship things weighing a couple ounces.    Three or four iterations of that mantra and I was handed off to a supervisor.

She offered to waive shipping as a courtesy. I told her that was all well and good but I still needed a better option and that my continued business is predicated on the need for a cheaper option.  “What about the USPS?†I asked.

She said I could ship that way but (a) I’d have to call them and request it, and that (B) they wouldn’t be able to tell me what the shipping cost would be. The latter was articulated with all the overtones of a dire warning that she could muster.

I’m thinking unless they pack the envelope with rocks, it’ll be a lot cheaper than Eleven Dollars.

So be cheap and complain about shipping costs.  It pays good dividends.

Know what you mean. Had a place charge me $5 to ship 10 pepper SEEDS.

Guess I'm lucky on my shipping charges at Pop's Shop.  I give the customer about 7 different shipping options.  They choose what they want.  A 1 pound package can be as little as $3 or as much as $150 ! ! ! ! ! !

I'm always aware of what shipping charges are when I buy something.  Too much and I'll find a different source (or fuss about it).

yes, there is a business that I dealt with once before on the net that charged way over what they should have and blamed it on their shipping software or some such htat htey were not willing to let go, so to ease the pain a bit she included some extra blanks at no additional cost but as here, this doesn't help me order from her again in the future and I will not do so until I see lower shipping prices.
