Zubin's Status (Needs Advice)

Featured Replies

Zubin posted a status at the left of our site, he is inquiring about a scroll saw machine and he wants to know if it would be a worthwhile investment, what do you guys think?

Thanks for any help.

John,

It might be ok for light duty work.

It appears to be made from alot of plastic, which has me wondering how durable it would be in use.

I'm not sure what 139.95 euros translates into dollars.

I think they make it look too good. Not sure I would want to spend any money on it.

Looks like I'd save my $$$ and get the real thing if scroll sawing is what he wants to do!

Looks like something I would stay away from. It appears to be a lot of plastic, the "angle block" appears to be small in size and plastic. I couldn't make out any marks to use as a guide. Having to attach the whole this to a table via clamp, I would worry about vibration and things coming loose. If he is interested in getting into scrolling, there are some decent entry level saws available. I would keep my money and watch for sales, or used equipment to start out on. Get a "true" feeling for scrolling.

I am really thankful to all your suggestions. I realize that this product is good for light work only and will start shaking after some time of use. So I am going to go out and look for a decent entry level scroll saw. I will be making models and home decor items with it. Thanks a lot for guiding me. I'll be putting up some pics of my projects soon. :)

We're all glad to help.

I just replaced my entry level scroll saw. It was good for a start to see if I really liked to scroll.

What a difference! It's put the fun back into sawing.

Please keep us posted on your progress and pics of you work. If you need any help along the way I would be happy to try and help you. I will warn you, once you get to scrolling it is very addictive :).
