Thanks to everyone for the warm welcome, I truly appreciate the response.  I am a hobby woodworker who is just getting back into woodworking at age 51.  I am also sliding down the slippery slope of vintage machinery which is what led me to this site.  In February I acquired a Wadkin RS patternmaker's lathe and just finished a full restoration (pictured below) and last month I acquired a Crescent 12" jointer and a 15" Syracuse Disk Sander.  These acquisitions have left my shop wanting for space so I'll have to slow down a bit and figure out how to arrange everything in the small space I have.  I'm really enjoying the restoration of these old ARN machines and looking forward to putting them to work as I develop my woodworking skills.  Kitchen cabinets are first up on the wife's list so I hope to be tackling that project very soon.  Thanks again for the warm welcome to your site.

That is a FINE looking machine. Sure like to see that jointer and disk sander, too.

BTW, welcome to the forum.

Had to wipe the drool off of the keyboard before I could reply as to what a beautiful machine this is!!

Glad you are here and looking forward to seeing the kitchen cabinets progress!

There's a series of pics covering the restoration on the OWWM forum along with some short narratives if anyone's interested in the process.  Its my first restoration so I must caution everyone against thinking I know what I'm doing.  And I have to throw out a word of thanks to Chuck Hess (who's website was an inspiration and a great source of information) and "Jack" (who is a god in the world of Wadkin restorations) as I could not have done this without their input and assistance.

I'll have to find Chuck's website.

As to knowing what one's doing with a restoration, I'm sure we've all been here...............

Man, that is one nice looking lathe. What a first time project! I scrolled down and saw what it looked like to begin and you did an outstanding job on that piece. I have to agree with Larry, you may have passed the sliding part and be in full free fall now. Welcome to the site and please feel free to share with us your projects. We love to see pictures.
