Fall is rapidly approaching for The Patriot Woodworkers and it is a great time to be in your shop. Of course as we have been discussing it is also a time that allergies flare up. I have been in the shop very little this week due to congestion, coughing, runny eyes and so on. But I am hope I am on the mend now and can get some time in the shop this weekend.

I have some of the Pizza peels just about finished. I have them cut rounded and the front beveled. I have found that my large raised panel bit does the trick on the sides for the bevel, but I am using my No.18 block place to bevel the rounded part of the peel takes a little longer, but doesn't offer the chance for it to grab on the end grain and mess up the peel. I have got to come up with a good jig though so I can do them a bit faster.

So they are coming along and I need to finish them this weekend.

I had a little table brought to me this week and they want this picture removed but saved from the top.

So I have to remove this and put a end grain cutting board top in it. This is a 12"x12" so it shouldn't be too bad. I not sure how this is stuck in there but I got to try to remove it without breaking it. Keep your fingers crossed.

I also got five large cutting board glued up they just need sanding.

Nice picture, John. One can understand their wanting to save it. Looks like it's just framed by the metal table edge. 

Good looking peel, too. When you figure out the beveling jig, PLEASE post it. A knife edge has to be tricky. Maybe sanding?

I'm working on 4 jewelry chests with doors and drawers. All the parts for the cases and door frames are cut to exact width and length and thicknessed, except the rails and stiles which are not cut to length, yet. Always make the case before the doors and drawers! DAMHIK 

The top and bottom of each case is a 3/4 slab with dadoes to accept the sides and backs which will be tenoned. Since my router edge guide is on back-order, I've been fiddling with the router table. The dado for the back is 1/4" from the rear edge and stops 1 1/2" from each end of the slab, while the dado for the tenoned sides meets the back dado and stops 2" from the front. Got all eight of the slabs dadoed along the back. Today, I just have to reset the stops for the ends. But, because they are stopped, I have to reset the stops for the right and left ends. The edge guide should be here by 10/1. I may just wait. In which case, I guess I'll just sand the case parts all weekend. Next Thursday morning, we leave to spend 5 days with our Grandkids. We're going to their Grandparent's day at school and then watching them while their parents take a couple days to celebrate their 10th anniversary. Maybe I can sneak away to a few lumber stores....sssshhhhh.

My weekend will be spent in the garage working on my 2007 Ford F-150. I have to replace the front struts, hubs/rotors and brakes. It will be nice when I am done that I will not be literally bouncing down the road and shaking when I push the brake pedal. I guess our road trip back in July out to see Ron Dudelston and John Moody (as well as moving our son and daughter in law to Indianapolis) just pushed the ol' pickup over the edge. It could also be because the last time I did brakes and struts was 40,000 miles ago, but I seriously doubt that. :-)

The only real fun part will be getting those pesky spindle nuts off as they are 36mm and torqued down to 300 lbs. So I bought a bigger breaker bar and will stop by Home Depot and get a piece of pipe to make a nice cheater bar. I tried to find a torque multiplier wrench to loosen them up, but no one has one of those to rent. In fact when I asked about one and explained what it was they all said "Huh???? Just use a breaker bar and a long piece of pipe."  The good thing is our temps are starting to get more civilized so it will be more comfortable in the garage.

Hi John,

Yes, the alergy season is in full swing here. Goldenrod is growing everywhere and fortunately for me I don't have a reaction to it but a few folks I know are having a rough time with it. Anyway, I hopefully will be able to find some time over this weekend to continue carving a couple of "dove bird" door pulls for a small cabinet I've been working on. Should be a relaxing endeavor for me after a hectic week.

I've been playing with my new scroll saw. Going thru all my old patterns I came up with these to cut. Simple, but something I could cut and get use to the saw. 

Now I need to make more for all of our families for Christmas presents! I'll let them do the painting.

Well I got the Pizza Peels finished and put the pictures in another thread.

I also got the top out of the table for the project I have to on it. It came out without any problems.

So now it is on to making a cutting board to fit the table.
