September 27, 201312 yr Learning this new toy.  Tried both with a the macro setting and withoutwithout, and you thought old dryers were just to be thrown out?  Saving the inside for when I get then circle cutting planes. Also without the macro setting on.  That "new" Pine shows up white, BRIGHT white.  Look at the sycamore Crochet, and the old pine panel.  Auto focus is still a bit off...With the macro on.  None of these photos used the flash on the camera, battery wasn't up to the job. A close-up for Mister DeMille, er Moody.  Old lag screws, of course. This is what a Crochet can look like, on the cheap, of course. My Corsair C-5 Jack plane, with a cambered iron. The junior jack was taking a bit too long, so, the big guy was used. With a mouth like that, it WILL take a BIG bite.  Last few were taken with the macro on. Zoom is NOT an auto feature on this camera.  What I see in the viewfinder is not always what the camera takes.  Looks fine in the vf, then downloaded, it turns kind of fuzzy.  Date/time is NOT set, yet.  Still a work in progress.....pine panel is too, more on that later.... Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
September 27, 201312 yr Looks like you're getting better! Not sure about your camera but with mine (different maker) the Macro setting is for really close up stuff- usually 1 foot or less. Lew Kauffman-Wood Turners Forum HostTime Traveler and Purveyor of the Universe's Finest Custom Rolling Pins!
September 28, 201312 yr Right. macro wont focus on anything more than a foot or so away. Auto focus with flash should do the trick unless you are in a well lit area like the wood on the bench. You may also want to play with your ISO settings if there are any on that camera. I'm still trying to get better pictures of completed projects but I need a light box to do that. For about $50 I should be able to get a light box/tent and at least 1 more light. then it will be a matter of how to get the camera close enough on a tripod to take the picture correctly. You are getting there keep playing with it and we'll keep suggestions coming Have fun. Lewis Kauffman said: Looks like you're getting better!
