New workbench got an older leg vise yesterdayStopped at the old Pole Barn Shop, and picked up this "gem".  Used to be on the English Bench I built a while ago.  With the feet sticking out on the new bench, leg was just a bit long, soclamped it down and sawed the excess off.   Needed a hole to mount the pipe part of the vise, soForstner bit in an electric drill.   Mounted the vise in the hole.By adding a spacer at the bottom, and the other end of the pipe clamp on the other side of the leg.   Screw on the vise is run all the way out. I can slide it as needed by adjusting the inside part.    Then I have at least 2" of screw travel.  As viewed from the side.  Planes were used to finesse the top edge of the "chop" as it is called.This Junior jack did a nice job on end grain.   The WR #4 V3 smooth things level, as well.

Not much in the way of "fancy", but should work..
