Installed a new(old) leg vise

New workbench got an older leg vise yesterdayning-dscf00304-8591-59.jpg?width=750Stopped at the old Pole Barn Shop, and picked up this "gem".  Used to be on the English Bench I built a while ago.  ning-dscf00314-8591-34.jpg?width=750With the feet sticking out on the new bench, leg was just a bit long, soning-dscf00354-8591-91.jpg?width=750clamped it down and sawed the excess off.   Needed a hole to mount the pipe part of the vise, soning-dscf00364-8591-19.jpg?width=750Forstner bit in an electric drill.   Mounted the vise in the hole.ning-dscf00384-8591-85.jpg?width=750By adding a spacer at the bottom, and the other end of the pipe clamp on the other side of the leg.   Screw on the vise is run all the way out. I can slide it as needed by adjusting the inside part.    Then I have at least 2" of screw travel.  ning-dscf00402-8591-76.jpg?width=750As viewed from the side.  Planes were used to finesse the top edge of the "chop" as it is called.ning-dscf00393-8591-40.jpg?width=750This Junior jack did a nice job on end grain.   The WR #4 V3 smooth things level, as well.

Not much in the way of "fancy", but should work..

Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...

That'll do sir, that'll do just fine Steve!!!!! When I build my bench, that is a must have!
