October 6, 201312 yr The second of two refurbs was going along nicelyIt's the one in front. this is what it looked like out of the bag.  Worked on cleaning things upThose bolts were brass ones. Got these cleaned up, the iron was nice and scary sharp, brass shone like jewels.   A test drive on some pineSince everything was clean and shinyShavings were decent, just a might thick for a #4 smooth plane. So, started to adjust the iron back a bit, and then it happenedSomething snapped!  That little piece of iron USEd to be how one adjusted the iron's depth, and adjusted the laterals.   Not anymore..  @#@@@#!!  Guess I sold sell the parts as a parts plane on feebay.... Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...

October 8, 201312 yr Author Let's see. the long brass bolt is a "rivet" at the bottom, and might be rough to re-install.   The pin is cast iron.   I don't think it is weld-able.  Don't think that JB Weld would work, either.   The two Shelton 04 bases, the iron, and handles are now on fee-bay, along with a strange #3 sized "block plane" .  All the handles are in good shape. Gets to the point that, if they don't work in my shop....they will be gone.   Herd is getting a bit low.  Might have to go out and find a few "extras".....Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
