Patriot Woodworkers what is on your woodworking agenda this weekend.

As for me I will not be doing any woodworking this weekend as Beth and I are on the road visiting Ron and Dorothy Dudleston. We have slipped into Steve Newman's area and doing a little rust hunting instead of woodworking.

A big day of rust hunting yesterday. I think I found Steve's honey hole for old saws.

I dug through the boxes and foiund two that I purchased.

So we had a great day of rust hunting here in the North. I picked up six, yep, six hand planes.

In the back in a Bailey 5 1/2, two thumb planes, a Stanley No. 71 (missing depth gage), a Stanley 12 1/2 scraper plane (missing the blade), and a Stanley No. 102. Pretty good deals on all of them, so I can see why Steve like the area.

I was also looking for a couple of things that I just wanted.

So here are the two saws, one a Keen Kutter the other a H. Disston & Sons with the Philia on the medallion.

I also got a No.1 Bell, well actually I got two bells. One didn't have a clapper and the other didn't have the mounting yoke. So I go both for less than the guys was asking for the one. When we shook hands he said, "Professional Picker".

So that is about it for us, hopefully more rust hunting to come.

Great haul, there John. 

With all the mechanical problems we've had lately, I was lucky enough to get in the shop for a few hours yesterday and finished up all the routed dados on the tops and bottoms of the jewelry cases. Whew! Lots more dados needed on the sides for the dovetail drawer slides and shelves.

Today will be dedicated to squaring up the corners on those dados and, cutting the tenons on the sides. Tomorrow, I hope to get them all dry fitted so I can size the doors and drawers. Two doors per chest. Each is frame and panel. Got some curly to resaw for the panels.

Three drawers in each within 5 3/4". Not used to working so small. 

I'd post pics, John but who wants to see a bunch of slabs on a cluttered bench?

Gene, I think a lot of us would like to see the slabs. I made small boxes for B'day present this year and any ideas I can pick up the better!

Tops and bottoms are routed for the sides, which are just beyond the tops and bottoms.

Gene - now that the stiles and rails are done, we'll be looking forward to seeing the rest of the project coming through.

As for Judy and I - we are vending at Prater's Mill in North Georgia this weekend.  Supposed to be great weather.  Not very much Federal Government around here so we hope there will be plenty of folks with a few extra $$$ that would LOVE to take some Pop's Shop cuttings home with them.  Still don't have the peddle power scroll saw working so no saw dust for me until Tuesday when we get home.

Well, I did get home from the hospital on friday evening, got home about 7pm.

Have a cardiac monitor with a cell phone running things for the next wo weeks.

Kind of hard to rust hunt right now.  Actually selling some of my stuff for gas money...
