I know, I'm a little late in getting this thread started.  We did not get back from weekend's craft show until about 7PM tonight.  What absolutely great things did you get accomplished over the weekend.  Know that plans were shared on Friday - how about an update.

My plans were to attend the show at Prater's Mill in NW Georgia.  Had a great show.  Second show in a row that the weather was perfect and folks opened their wallets.  Again I about sold out of military stuff - have one map left - and several other large items sold.  We have one more show and if it goes as well, we just might turn a profit this year.  (First year in the last 3).

We had the opportunity to have a granddaughter with us the entire weekend.  She is the one we went to europe in June to see graduate from high school.  For a high functioning autistic, she is really coming on strong and I believe she just might kick this thing.  I was a shear joy to see her work the crowd and potential customers.  As a matter of fact, she took the honors of the top seller between us.  Needless to say, we gave her a nice little sum as a commission.  (That and a whole lot of love.)

Look at my signature if you want the link Anyway. I had a pretty good weekend for once. Now if we could get some sales going that would be great. I fear though that until our government gets it's act together, sales will probably be very slow. Turn safely my friends!

No shop time over the weekend for me Fred. Did have a wonderful time traveling the highways and back roads of Tennessee, Kentucky and Indiana. It is a joy to see the things you miss when you are on the Interstate. It is also sad to see the old farms and old barns disappear from our landscape. An era that will soon be lost in the vast expansion of neighborhoods.

We were able to visit with a gentleman that has taken over a furniture shop in Cave City, Kentucky. He was able to work under a third generation furniture maker for four years before he took over the shop. We purchase a cherry bedroom suite from T.J. Adams, a third generation furniture builder 35 years ago. He passed away in 2011 at the age of 82 and was still making furniture. His brother-n-law has taken it over and continues to build custom Cherry reproduction furniture.

Also had the time to do a little rust hunting with Ron and Dorothy Dudleston and picked up several pieces that have now made it back to Alabama.

Saturday was filled with yard work.

Saturday, all the routed mortises got squared off. Took a nice long drive on Sunday. Columbus Day was a bust. Got very little done in the shop. Just sharpened my chisels and set up for cutting tenons. 

Today won't be any more productive. Supposed to pick up the Polaris at the dealer's after they replaced the transmission. And, as luck would have it, the Focus was scheduled for it's LOF and check up, today. Both dealers are in the same town but, that means driving the truck and the car 50 miles, loading the Polaris on the trailer while Phyllis waits for the Focus' service. Then 50 miles back home. Big chunk of the day gone!

Good stuff, guys.  John, when Judy and I were still riding out Gold Wing, we road the back roads all the time and found wonderous treasures along the way.  (Also some fantastic eating establishments - gravel parking lot with lots of trucks)

Hey Fred, I got the trim work done on my cabinets at my customers home on Saturday, we are basically done but for two small doors that I still need to get installed, but we are trying to locate some hinges that will work with the configuration. Once I get it completely wrapped up I'll get some pics up. The job turned out wonderful, he loves it, and he had company over that just fell in love the work, so I am very happy! The rest of the weekend I did nothing, that is a rare opportunity that pops up for me to just do nothing, and enjoy it!!

Love it Fred, I think we are really missing a lot of the country side on the Interstates. I know you can see lots but if is a lot more intimate on the back roads.

Since my shoulder injury last January, my woodworking has been non-existent. It has been hard to get motivated to jump into new projects. Yesterday I was finally able to make some saw dust as I have a friend that owns a women's clothing store and she wanted me to make a platform for her front window so she could put up a Christmas tree on. It was really simple using a scrap piece of 4'x4'x3/4" plywood and some narrower scrap pieces of 3/4" plywood. Just did few cuts and then screwed it all together and sanded it down to get rid of the rough edges and took it to her store. It will be covered over with some spiffy fabric. The tree will have all different kinds of ornaments on it for sale and will have a powered rotating pedestal so the tree will spin so people can pick the ornaments that they want. It was a nice ice breaker to get back into woodworking.
