Now this is a High Boy!

Featured Replies

Well really it is not an official Highboy but this is one tall chest of drawers. This was at the Pleasant Hill Shaker Village. I took hundreds of pictures and will weed through them and only post the highlights here in a few days.

Just wanted to share this one large Shaker Chest of Drawers.

ning-tallchestofdrawers-8230-17.jpgI am right at 6' tall so that give you an idea on this chest of drawers.

John - are you sure you are not taking trick photography??????  Not Photo shopping it?????

Where is the ladder to get into the top drawers?

No photoshopping Fred or I would have made me thinner and more muscular. It is a great piece. I told my wife you would need one of their step ladders to use it.

I think that is what draws me and so many to the beauty of their work. It is so simplistic yet beautiful and very we'll built.

That's one high boy John!!!!

You know what I love about that style is the subtle designs they put into it, like notice the drawer pulls, the bank of long drawers on the lower case have the knobs inset from the edge towards the center more so then the shorter drawers at the top. I think most woodworkers with not a whole of design of experience, would have just set those drawer knobs in line with each other all the way down. Stuff like that I love.

Nice pic of you too Mr Moody!!!!

Yea I agree with you John. It is just the small things that make each piece unique, yet follow their design ideas. I have a bunch more I will try to post this week.
