October 25, 201312 yr Well, first off, Daughter found a new place to rent.   While checking out the "junk" left behind from a prior tennent, found the following items:An all metal, chrome plated B&D sabresaw, with a small orange and black logo.  WORKS!A pair of channel -lock pliers made by PROTO, rusty, but cleaned up nicelyA rusty-brown block plane in bad need of a clean up. Turned out to be a Cordovan coloured Stanley 9-1/2.  Made after the "Blue" era, about 68 or so.  Iron was still sharp! Couple wood handled screwdrivers, half a dozen GOOD paint brushes, a small pocket multimeter( NEW IN BOX!) Can of paint stripper, and a lot of boxes of nails and screws.  Price?  (wait for it) FREE!  Even won a Sargent 414c jack plane on Fee-bay for $12, plus (wait for it) FREE SHIPPING! Plane was in dire need of a rehab, the wood needed some glue.  Wouldn't you just know it, I found two good bottles of wood glue in that basement, as well.  Just have to walk five blocks each way, no gas involved either.   And, no state lines were crossed....Planer? October 25, 201312 yr Oh come on Steve, I can't compete with all this free and I had to cross four state lines to get a deal. Really, way to go, glad you found it. October 28, 201312 yr Author Cordovan 9-1/2 is now in working condition, all spruced up and sharp.   The Sargent 414c is in need of a paint stripping/paint job.  Tote is repaired.  Both wood handles are stripped, and a new coat of varnish added to the Mahoganey wood.   Adjuster wheel was a steel one, trying to keep it from rusting up again. Iron is cambered a bit.  Not too bad of a jack plane, for just $12.    Found some more scrap lumber, again free stuff, that will become the legs and aprons of a small pine table.  That five foot long 1x6 is already cut and glued up into a top, three board wide. Thinking about adding a lower shelf, since I have a panel already glued up.  We'll see... May go back and rust hunt a bit more....Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
