November 1st, man where has the time gone? Leaves a changed rapidly and with the wind and rain from yesterday, it blew many of them off before we got to really enjoy their beauty.

Tonight will be First Friday in Historic Downtown Florence, AL and the next to last show for this year. I got most of my things finished and I guess those that didn't will just have to wait a few days. My cutting board inventory is lower than I like going into this time of year, but it is what it is.

This weekend will not have much shop time for me. Ron and Dorothy Dudleston will get into town sometime around mid day. Hoping to grab some lunch with them and then get ready to setup my booth around 3:00 pm. Saturday we will be taking a trip to the Rock Wall that I posted sometime back. After that we will trek down the road a piece to Waterloo, Al were the Indians were loaded onto boats as part of the trail of tears when they were moved to Oklahoma. After that just some relaxing in the area. Saturday night we will be at an auction looking for some special piece yet to be determined. Sunday afternoon we are taking a walking tour of the Florence Cemetery. I have been taking a class through the local University of Early History of our area. Sunday we will get to walk through the cemetery with a very knowledgeable guide and tell us about many of the early settlers to this area. The class has been very interesting.

Yesterday I went to my local lumber supplier and picked up some maple, walnut and cherry to make some cutting boards for Christmas. My wife told me that a couple teachers at her school were asking if we had any in stock as they wanted to buy some for Christmas gifts. So I got the wood and got the strips all cut and will start the first glue ups today. I also picked up 2  5'x5' sheets of 1/2 baltic birch plywood as I have a friend that needs 2 of the children's knock down rocking chairs that I make as they have a couple of new babies being born and they want to give them as gifts for their nurseries.It looks like I will be making more these for them as well as they will have a few more grandkids/nieces/nephews coming in 2014 and they want to get chairs for each one. So it looks like I am finally getting back into the woodworking thing after my long lay off with my shoulder recovery. I am sore today but it is a good sore. It has been really hard to push myself to get the ball rolling, but now that it is I am sure that I will get moving along at steady pace.

Putting the finishing touches on a bunch of rolling pins. Mimi also wants a new light in the living room. She bought the glass globes but everything else needs to be custom built. Not much wood working- a ceiling medallion and wire strain reliefs. The rest is electrical. Still waiting on an out of stock socket.

I've been busy making Christmas ornaments for family and friends. One of them started out as 7 has now become 17.

Sounds like some great projects by all of you. Good to hear about what is going on in your shop.

Ron and Dorothy Dubleston came by for a weekend visit and attended First Friday with us. I fed them lunch and put them to work behind the booth.

This was our show your support for UNA (local university) so we had our Purple and Gold colors on the table. No those are not LSU colors!

I'm not sure why, Dorothy thought it was cold. I wore shirt sleeves all night. I thought they were from Indiana where you can see into Canada from their house.

Anyway they were a great help as we expanded what I normally set up to cover 20' and it was quite busy. Sold all but 1 large and 1 small board. We sold 2 smalls, 2 Pizza Peels, 4 Bread Boards, 6 cheese boards and several other items. Not it is get busy time and start getting ready for the Christmas show the first of December..
