November 9, 201312 yr  Since Christmas 2012 I have not gotten any woodworking done due to shredding my rotator cuff when I hit some unseen ice in January while on my morning walk. After having 2 surgeries I finally got enough mobility and strength to be able to use my table saw and other machines safely and without having range of motion and pain issues. So this week I started up the first batch of end grain cutting boards for Christmas gifts and to sell to generate some Christmas gift $$. This first batch I got 6 large and 3 small cutting boards in two different patterns completed and ready for final sanding. My hands are pretty rough and raw since they have not worked with wood/tools/sandpaper/glue for some time, but it is a good thing. I will getting some more wood next week and start the next round of cutting boards. Here is a cell phone pic of the boards all routed and ready for the final sanding. Not a great picture especially under the flourecent lights, but I really didn't want to dig out my big camera. November 19, 201312 yr Author John Moody,You have a few more clamps than I have, so it takes me a bit longer with the first glue ups. I will be talking with my friend from church that owns a cabinet shop to see if he will let me use his big 50" dual belt sander for the leveling after the 2nd glue up. He let me do that the last time I had a big batch of boards to do. That will make my life much easier as my Jet 16" drum sander takes quite awhile to get things done when I have more than a few boards to do.I will be starting on some knock down rocking chairs today and should get going on the next cutting board batch next week.Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.net'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk.'
