November 11, 201312 yr comment_7620 Just watched the ceremony at Arlington National Cemetery. Â Still gives me cold chills. To honor our Veterans from every service, every war, every skermish, every "police action", every veteran. Â For me it was an honor to serve this great country. Â Home of the free because of the brave. Beyond that, What did YOU get done or accomplished over this past weekend? Â Come on, folks, share with us. Â As for me, got the finishing touches on a few things. My Spirit Soars - order from my web site. Â Made from Mahogany on stained baltic birch with a stained pine sun. An anniversary plaque A wedding plaque A few Hannaka bush ornaments for my Jewish friends And last but not least: A custom plaque for a retired Army veteran. Â Notice the patch in the upper right side of the picture. Â This is all I had to go on. Â Plaque made from 3/4" Red Oak. Â Stains were used in the emblem. Â All parts of the emblem are sanded/dremmeled and otherwise shaped to give a 3D effect (hard to see in the picture. That's it for me - how about y'all? Â Whatcha got, eh? November 11, 201312 yr comment_7627 You are a busy man Fred!!!!! I don't know how ya do it! I posted my weekend project already on the board. I also cleaned my shop up a tad, and blew the dust and black widows from the corners of the shop. I got a little spider trivia for yall, did you know that the docile spider the Daddy Long Legs is actually one of the most venomous spiders we have around us? That's right, it has more toxic venom then the Back Widow and it could actually cause death, but, it has no way to transfer that venom into us humans, it's stinger or bite, is not powerful enough even if it tried, you would not even feel their attempt to break skin!!! Now, the above was told to me by our pest company who comes to our home every three months to spray and treat. I don't think they would lead me astray. We have a ton of Daddy Long Legs, and I was mentioning to the fellow how we actually like them around our place, they catch a ton of flies, then we started talking about how we all played with them as kids. He came up with that little fact, not being an alarmist, it was just interesting trivia. John MorrisThe Patriot Woodworker Report
November 11, 201312 yr comment_7626 Working on a few (5) of these for G'kids Christmas presents. Saw a picture of one on "Tom's Workbench" and liked the idea. They're cut out and waiting for the heat lamp to get them warm enough to start painting. Harry BrinkBulldog WoodworkingMontana Report

November 14, 201312 yr comment_7621 Am working on finishing up the first of several batches of end grain cutting boards for Christmas to sell and for gifts. I have been making these for a number of years but I made a couple of changes to how I do them after looking at John Moody's boards and talking with him about some of his processes. It will definitely make things go easier. Here are a couple of pics in progress from my cell phone. Not the best especially with the fluorescent lights After the rough sanding. Here is one of them finished with mineral oil applied Allen WorshamCorona, CAallenworsham@earthlink.net'Graze in every man's field, but always give your own milk.' J.
