November 12, 201312 yr My wife had to be at work at 5:45 Saturday morning so I was up and there was an estate sale close to the house. I thought the last name of the person was someone associated with the electrical business here so I drove by to see how many were in line to get into the house. Only about 10 people and they let in the first 20, so I stopped and got out. I was number 11 and when they let us in I went straight to the garage. I picked up these three pieces of Starrett, the mircoguage was still in the plastic and in the original box. The plumb bob look almost brand new. Then I spotted this wonderful Cast Iron Starrett Machinist 18" level. All three vials are in perfect condition. The level is an early 1900 model. The level vial can be read from the top or the side so it can be used on either side. I picked up the three pieces for 16.00. Then I look up and saw this Vintage Simpson 260 Ohm meter for 2.00. It does work and I have the leads for it. I also picked up these two Stanley Combination Rulers. The top one is a Stanley No.21. The other one is a Stanley No.122. They were 1.00 each. This group was all wrapped together and was 4.00 A Stanley No.41 Yankee Screw driver was in the bundle. A Stanley 130A Yankee Screwdriver. And then there was this really cool looking Egg Beater style Drill. Turns out it was a North Bros. No.555 Breast Drill Pat. in 1897 and 1909. This is one beast of a drill It was priced 5.00. I did pick up one hand plane, it was a Stanley No.5 Jappaning is pretty well gone and it was really dusty. it does have three pat. dates behind the frog with 1910 being the oldest. Handle has a chip in the top like nearly every No.5 you find out there. Hard to see but this is the three pat. dates. I just had to take my finger and check. It was almost like reading braille. The plane was 10.00. More than I would like to have paid, but it will clean up good and make a good user. There were many other tools, but that was all I carried out.
