Friday, November 29th, Whats on Your Patriot Woodworking Agenda?

Featured Replies

I know, I know, it is Saturday morning and I am just now putting up the Friday Post but I got off to an early start yesterday picking.

So today I am about to head out to my shop and get started finishing up the legs to a small round table that I have cut out and hopefully getting some pieces cut for some more cutting boards. I have my last First Friday next Friday night and I need to have a pretty good inventory since this is just before Christmas. This weekend and next week will be busy, busy in the shop time.

We still have four of the grandchildren here so we have been quite busy with them also. The youngest, our grandson told his mother last night he was ready to go home, they have Ninja Turtles at his house. She records them on the DVR for him and he would sit and watch it all day. I didn't know so I don't have them recorded, but I will next time. He is three and if it keep him still and quite, I will record Ninja Turtles believe me.

So for me it will be tables, finishing a chest, making cutting boards and anything else I can squeeze in this weekend and next week.

What about the rest of you Patriot Woodworkers, what's on your woodworking agenda this weekend? Are  you starting new projects, finishing up projects, working on Christmas projects, making jigs, cleaning the shop, or putting up your Christmas decorations? We here at TPW are interested in what other Patriot Woodworkers are doing in their shop, so please post your projects and pictures. We love to see pictures of your work. Post the pictures here in the thread so we can ouuu and ahhh over them.

Have a great weekend and get those post up.

Have the pencil pieces all milled and turned- except for the pencils need "sharpened". The points need to be painted first and I'm waiting to hear back about the little girls' favorite colors. The ferrule and erasers need a little more sanding before they get painted. The shelves are rough sized but need to be finalized. When this is done, the Christmas list will be finished- but you know how that goes!

I'm spending today trying to find the floor of the shop after building this pantry for my daughter in law. Of course, I have to help Dorothy trim the tree first.

Hi all, I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving. For me, this weekend is all about getting pens made, as many as I can make. I have several left that need to be done, all but one are the slimline types. I do have 1 rollerball to make as well. I have an order for a Redwood Burl slim that I am working on as I type this. I may even keep that rollerball for myself, I need a pen that writes well and i keep selling the ones I make LOL.

Have a great weekend all

John - thanks for our weekly "Whatcha doing" Post.  As for me, I took in a couple of custom jobs this past week and still have four maps to make.  Lot's of oak, pine, walnut, cedar, and marine plywood dust going to fly around the shop this weekend.

Spent Thanksgiving and Friday with sons and families in Tucson. Spent Saturday driving back up here. I'm pooped.

Tomorrow, it's back to the shop.

Spent Friday with my wife at home doing some clean up from Thanksgiving. We also went out and saw the movie "The Book Thief" which was really good. It was dealing with a young girl in the late 1930's and into WWII living in Germany with foster parents who also hid a Jewish man from the Nazis. Very emotional, but a very good movie. We also did some Christmas shopping in the late afternoon to early evening after the main rush side down. Then we went over to a friend's house and sat around a bon fire talking with our daughter and some of her friends. Today we slept in and then went out for some breakfast and then did some more shopping. Right now I got the Alabama-Auburn football game on.

As for woodworking stuff, I have 5 children's rocking chairs sitting on my workbench waiting for me to give them a final sanding and then prime them. I may get some of that done tonight depending on what my wife wants to do.

Sounds like a busy busy time here at TPW, with seemingly everyone with something to do :)
