How hard can these be? Anyway, had two chunks of Black Walnut sitting around, getting abused by every new to me hand plane.   Also had a pair of Black Cherry scraps, also being abused.    Why not just glued them up into something? Ugly, ain't it?   Lines are for a saw to try and follow.  An old sabresaw used abused to do the cuts.and an old FranckenBailey #5 was used to trim all the saw marks.  Note the layout lines on the corners?  I then used the sabresaw to cut the corners round.  Then after a thorough abusing on the faces of the board, and a quick sanding of the rounded corners, a router ( yep, even had a cord) was used to round over the edges.   A coat  ( so far) of Mineral Oil and allow to dry outsitting on the Kitchen counter, almost ready to go to worka close up of the Walnut grain.    May not be up to John Moody's standards?     Just a simple board, for a simple Kitchen...
