Christmas Time is Here!

I hope you are have already made your list and got it into Santa. You know he only has so many days left in the shop and he will be burning the midnight oil to finish on time. I know I have already told him what I want.

I even told him I would be happy with some old rust. I hope he understands the rust needs to be on tools. Hummm, I better go back and explain it.

Tonight is my last First Friday show for the year and then a couple of months off before the season starts again. I'm not sure we or I will get to be there tonight. Yesterday it was 75 degrees here and this morning it is 42 and that will be the high for today. It is raining and the chance around 4:00 for it to change to rain and sleet. Expected temp and the time the outdoor show will start is 32. So with rain, sleet and really cold for us, this might not be a night I get to setup. But we will see, if possible I will be there.though.

Finishing up a small table, well this is actually from a few weeks ago I just forgot to post it, Last coat of spray will go on tomorrow and it should be ready to ship on Monday.

This was taken before the legs were shaped. I'll follow up with some more after it is ready to go.

Are you finishing up Christmas projects, new projects, old projects, jigs, remodeling the shop, installing new tools, restoring old tools or just putting it all off till December 24th? I have a set of Browning Golden Eagles for a while. You could do a little tuning and get that ping to be pretty long when you keyed the mike. I sure wish I had kept that D-104. I have seen them in Antique shops lately for close to 100.00.

WN4BPC giving you a big 10-04 ole buddy.

Finished a 20" round Oak project on Wed.  Rains came through, temp went crazy, project warped about 1.25" from side to side.  Yuck - 15 hours work down the drain.  Gotta go to wood store and try to find quarter cut 1x12 Oak to make another one for the guy.  Sometime ya just gotta cuss out Mother Nature a little and get back to work.

Instead of worrying when the storm will end, learn to dance in the rain.

I know about the temp and effect. I have been telling customers it just isn't ready yet due to the weather changes here. I don't think they understand what it does. It is also hard to spray finish when it is 75 and 95% humidity one day and 40 and 100 humidity the next. I can't keep the temp and humidity regulated in the shop at all.

"PaTing" Was that the matching set of Browning's with the kicker?

My dad ran a matched set of Couriers with a 300 watt kicker, until a direct lightening hit blew them up.

He had QSL cards from all over the world.

We used to enjoy doing fox hunts.

I had them looking for several hours one night, I kept bending my 102" whip over when I could tell they were getting close.

It about drove the hunters Crazy when my signal strength would drop way down.

At times they got close enough I could see them,...... but they couldn't see me.

Today my wife and I are spending the day at Disneyland. A friend of ours from church works there and is signing us in. Tami loves Disneyland but especially at Christmas. So we are sitting in the Grand Californian Hotel at the Disneyland Resort by a fireplace having our breakfast as we meet our friend in an hour.

Over the weekend I will be doing a lot of gluing of a lot of cutting boards for Christmas. I got all the strips cut and layed out on tables.

Yes, I have a 500 watt on the Brownings. You could see the lights dim when I would key the mike. We had a fiber glass antenna on one end of the house and a set of Beams on the other end.

Not too much in the way of shop time! It's still not above 10* in there!

But from now until Christmas Santa and Mrs. Claus will be almost too busy. We keep getting phone calls for Santa visits, so you know what we'll be doing. The Christmas Stroll tonight might not be too busy. With the temps still at 0* we may not see the 400+ kids like last year.

Trying to get ready for our last show this year. Amazing how the Mrs. keeps coming up with things that have not been started, or drawn out for all that goes.  Looking forward to  break soon.

Hang in there, the light at the end of the tunnel is not a run a way train. It is aimed right at you ... JK ... LOL

We are aat our second last show for the year. Next week should be our last blitz build. Before the holidays. Then we will begin to stockpile inventory for next year hoping to avoid many late nights in the shop

Yesterday (Saturday) I got 9 panels 40"L x 11.25" W to make some end grain cutting boards. I pulled the last ones out of the clamps this morning and in a few hours I will run them all through the planer and then start cross cutting them into strips for the 2nd glue up. I hope to get them all glued up by the end of the day.
