Weekend Project updates

Featured Replies

Another weekend has come and gone - (Where is the time going?  Way too fast.)  Just a little over a week to Christmas.  Do you have your projects completed and ready to wrap?

As for me and mine, have been working like crazy this past week.  Actually got some projects finished over the weekend but don't have pictures yet.  (Will have to take them today.)  Getting ready to ship an Eagle Scout to CA, two maps to VA, two eagles to GA, to more military stars to TN, whew, last minute stuff - and I thought this woodworking thing was a "hobby".

Anyhow - how about the rest of y'all?  Let us know what you have?

Signing off for now

Woodworking's a hobby as long as you stick with making whirly gigs Fred!!!! And I love whirly gigs!

Sounds like you got your work cut out for ya mister.

I worked on that lil Colonial Wall Box a bit, and mostly had to do honey do's around the home, and we had some Christmas programs to go to for our kids, and now I am sick as a dog. Seems this time of the year I get hammered, but at least this time it happened before Christmas, not during!

Milled lumber all weekend for more rolling pins. Still need to bring the inserts to their final thickness on the drum sander.

Got all the Christmas projects done with 5 rocking chairs made, 8 large end grain cutting boards, 8 small end grain cutting boards and 20 trivets. Some of those will be gifts but most are being sold at my wife's school. We had my wife's Christmas Party for her Autism team from school with about 16 people over enjoying a baked potato bar and lots of cookies to eat and share from everyone. It was really a nice time for them and Tami as this year she decided to just do the teachers and aides and not include the administrators which made it a much more relaxed time. The only other thing wood related that I have to do is paint one of those rocking chairs for my niece in Phoenix, AZ and get it dropped off to my sister who will be making the drive out there and will take the chair so I don't have to ship it. :-)

Working on the last of the gifts. I remember the days when it was a hobby. Now it is just keeping up with orders and last minute requests. But it is still fun and that is always a good thing.

Just got the pictures done of the Family Tree Custom project.  Rather proud the way it turned out.  Gotta brag a little so here goes.

Tree is about 28" tall made from 3/4" Red Oak.  The fruit of this family tree are the grandchildren of Paul and Billie and are made from 3/8" Cherry.

Fred, I actually finished this on Thursday night and got it boxed and shipped out on Friday,

Here is a Cherry and Maple Table I was working on.

ning-img-2304-6710-90.jpgAll the parts cut and the tenons on the stretchers.

ning-img-2407-6710-52.jpgFinished with several coats of Shellac and several coats of Varnish.

ning-img-2408-6710-40.jpgAnd I started spraying Shellac on this Cedar Chest that should be finished and picked up Thursday night.

John great looking table and chest.

Fred love that family tree. So cool. Where did you get the pattern from?

Great job to both of you.
