"I'm sorry, but your son has been injured in Afghanistan." For one mom, that call not only changed her life, but that of her entire family. Flying across the country, she arrived at the Fisher House at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center in Bethesda, Maryland. This mom would stay at the Fisher House with her daughter, while supporting their son and brother, who lost both legs in an IED blast.  Living within walking distance the hospital, this family was able to heal together during the recovery process. No treatment is black and white, and every wounded, injured and ill service member is different. But one thing remains the same: Fisher House is there to provide comfort and compassion during the trying times.  This Marine was supported by his entire family and after a few months, he was well enough to return home. He is now walking well on his prosthetic legs, driving and hunting. Everyone has adjusted to their "new normal."  Unfortunately, this story is not uncommon. That's why there are 62 Fisher Houses throughout the US and Europe, standing by to support America's greatest national treasure, our military and their loved ones.  Donate today and be a hero to a hero.  Fisher House Foundation, Inc.
