December 22, 201312 yr I was under pressure to get this toy box finished so the customer could pick it up and head to Atlanta with it. We had storms moving into the area and she wanted to be on the road early Saturday. She had given one grandchild a toy chest several years ago. Now there was a new grandchild and so I was given a picture of the other one, three dimensions and an order to built this one to match the other one. Thankfully they were going to stain and finish it. So it went from this on Thursday night. To this on Friday night. Strictly a dry fit of parts on Friday night and it was about 11:00. So I called it a night and got started early Saturday morning. Up at 5:30 and out to the shop at 5:45 to round over all the edges and start putting it together. Everything together and the feet on the bottom then the hinges and a latch hinge so it won't drop on a child. it also has a space at the top of the sides to it is not air tight in case they climb in and shut the lid. So it was finished and sanded and ready for pickup a whole 30 minutes before she got here. Now I am working to finish up three more projects and that will wind me up for Christmas. They may be getting them Christmas Eve morning though. December 22, 201312 yr Nice work John. Love it. I did the same on the top of the 2 I did for my grandsons. It is a 2 fold reason though. One lets air move through, the other is if they pull the lid down it protects their little fingers from too much harm. Once again, great work, I'm sure it will last a long time.Wayne MahlerGod bless and protect our troops that serve so we can be free.

December 23, 201312 yr Author Yes Lew, it is poplar. We cut it about three years ago and it has been in the wood stash. Lewis Kauffman said: Nice toy box! Is that poplar? Lew Kauffman-Wood Turners Forum HostTime Traveler and Purveyor of the Universe's Finest Custom Rolling Pins!
