Turn a blanket Chest into a Tool chest?

That will be the next "Project"  for the shop.    The current storage area just won't get things done.  So:

Drawers to the bottom?   Small storage drawers for small things.   have these near the bottom, like a Penn. Dutch Hope Chest. Maybe two or three levels of drawer?

Storage under the lid?    maybe a saw till under the lid?  Open lid, and pick out a panel saw?

Storage area under the lid, part two:  Handplanes need a decent home.    Maybe an area in the top of the chest for them?   Block planes and such will get a drawer.    Bench planes get the storage area.

Chest would sit under the workbench when not in use, then roll out to get out the toys, er.., tools needed.  Kind of limits the sizes I can use.    has to go under the bench when closed up, has to fit between the legs, and not stick out too far ( hard on shins)  so I may have to do a little measuring, for once...

Wood looks like it will be Pine. Can't afford that much in Oak, or Cherry.   Don't have enough Barn wood, either.    Good old Borg Pine, mainly 1x4s will do.   Frame & panel sides.    Not sure about dovetails.   Feet will have to be strengthened up for casters.     Might have to get a second brain cell woke up, to help with a plan.   Plan?   I use plans?    Always a first time for anything.

Will be a "down& dirty" build.     Could do the solid wood sides, dovetails everywhere, fancy woods, 20 coats of P&L whatever.    Could, but it just wouldn't be my kind of chest.    Stay tuned, this might get "Verrry In-ter-estink"

Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
