Featured Replies

I know it's between CHRISTmas and New Years and our shops have been relatively quiet.  For this last weekend in 2013, did you get anything done?

I finally got the the last of my orders out - YEAH

Working now on restocking for the spring season.

How about y'all?  Whatcha got going or finished?  Let us know.

No shop time for me either Fred. Getting ready to have my knee scoped tomorrow so I have stayed off of it as much as possible.

We did make a little trip yesterday out of town and went in this store that I love to visit. While looking through things I saw this Stanley catalog No.54, copyrighted in 1954. Since I was born in 1954 I thought it would be a nice piece to have so I purchased it.

ning-img-2536-6275-46.jpgFront Cover has a few stains on it and a little tear in the top right corner.

ning-img-2537-6275-53.jpgThe back cover was in really good condition.

ning-img-2539-6275-51.jpgCan you believe that a Stanley No.4 hand plane sold for $8.50 in 1954 and a No.5 was only 9.25. Of course that was quite a sum at that time.

ning-img-2541-6275-89.jpgA No.3 Cherry Adjustable lever was $5.20 while the No.0 non-adjustable was $3.50 to $3.85.

Inside pages are in good condition and it will be a nice keepsake. In just a few days it will be 60 years old and I believe it is in better shape than me!

Since it warmed up in the shop (36*) I got back to working on a "log cabin" style mail box for June's daughter.ning-mailbox-6274-28.jpg?width=721This is the dry fit of it. I have the door cut and mounted, a chimney made and the wood cut and sanded for the roof.

I used some T/G flooring for the sides and cedar for the base. Will us water proof sealer on it along with a lot of silicon.

When I'm done it'll be shipped to S.Calif, where the weather is a little better than here in Mt.
