January 8, 201412 yr Maybe you hadn't noticed but I missed a couple of weeks in our woodturning adventures. With the holidays falling on Wednesdays this year and people in and out, the poor old lathe hasn't been fired up in quite a while. The only woodworking I've done lately is milling, sizing and thicknessing materials to make a batch of rolling pins. So, in lieu of what I've been doing, her are some links to more productive turners. Woodturning OnLine's newsletter for this month has a very nice, brief tutorial on making a Segmented Kitchen Urn- http://www.woodturningonline.com/index.php The author, Richard Wile, provides some really neat tips on streamlining the process with a minimum of clamps and jigs. For the more advanced turners, Mr. David Smith has published a great article on how to make your own "points" for your centers. You can read his entire article here- http://www.davidreedsmith.com/Articles/MakeYourPoints/MakeYourPoints.htm Those of you who prefer to watch turning in action, here is a You Tube link to a super turner, Mike Waldt. https://www.youtube.com/user/TheCymruBoy?feature=watch And as always, Cap'n Eddie is someone excellent to follow. https://www.youtube.com/user/capneddie Safe Turning!
