January 10, 201412 yr  One of my four Jack planes is a Sargent #414c.   Took all this "vacation time" from the latest blizzards to clean up and hone the old boy. Got the frog's seat all nice and spiffythen a little work on the frog, as it was needing a good flattening. That is a shiny STEEL wheel there, someone had painted black.   Threads were rusted up, wire wheel cleaned that up. It does have a nice tall knob, makes it easier to grabAfraid there won't be any super thin, see-through shavings with this one, as it has a cambered edge to the iron.  Maybe when that Ohio Tool Co. 05c gets a new edge on it, since it has a straight edge to it's iron. This Sargent #414c does have a groovy bottom to it.   Might just make a decent "fore" plane, ala C. Schwarz..... Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...
