March 6, 201412 yr Ok, floor was swept, nice and clean. Tubs of the shavings and other things( more on that in a momento) hauled out the door, and dumped into a compost pile by the back fence. Next day, went to use a Stanley block plane......MIA?  Hmmm.   Turn the place upside down looking for the little critter, but it never turned up.   Plane was a freebie.  Daughter had moved into a new place, and the landlord said anything still in the house from the last tennant she could have.   Went looking down in the BIG basement there, and found a few items.   Amonst the "booty"  was a Cordovan 9-1/2 block plane.  This style was the last by Stanley before they went overseas.... Got to thinking ( dangerous actions, that) and put the coat on, walked out to pick up a rake.  headed for the compost pile.  Almost raked it all out, and then, a glint of metal showed in the morning light.... Looking a wee bit worse for wearthis is what shone up.   Good thing it hasn't RAINED around here, yet. Yep, this is a maroon colour.  Will be re-furbbing this one later. Almost forgot, that senior moment?  Need to start putting things away, when I'm done.   This one seems to have slid off the bench, right into a deep pile of shavings ( at least it wasn't Oak) and then Igor swept things up.   Imagine that, he used the broom as a broom, and not a form of transportation....could use a wee bit of clean up, don't you think.... Planer? I'm the 'planer', and these are what I use...

March 6, 201412 yr I often wonder if the things that disappear from my shop have left this way. Lew Kauffman-Wood Turners Forum HostTime Traveler and Purveyor of the Universe's Finest Custom Rolling Pins!
March 7, 201412 yr I can certainly identify with the "senior moments". Â There have been a couple of times that I eventually found a couple of screw drivers out in the sawdust mulch pile ! ! ! ! !Oh, yes, hate it when my son decides to either use my tools or clean up my shop. Â Takes me days to figure out what he did with the tools that I keep in certain spots because of my priorities in working order.
