Personally, I feel like I need to travel and start meeting these men and women, before they are all gone, I would love to take a video or voice recorder and start talking to these folks before they are no more, a big part of our history is disappearing daily. I knew the time would come, but it just always seemed so far off. Our daughter's veterans support club will be visiting these folks in our local senior homes and reading books to them, and taking walks, I may have to tag along and get to know them as well.

Our last American WWI veteran Frank Buckles passed on 3 years ago, we do not have any more American WWI Veterans in existence. And now our WWII veterans are leaving us.

Sadly, most of the lessons taught us by those heroes are lost on most of today's generation.

When we were in Europe last summer, we had a chance to visit that hallowed ground of "The Band of Brothers".  Very sobering and awe inspiring.  Just to walk where those guys fought and died - darn, gotta stop before my eyes start leaking.
